THE DARK KNIGHT!

I'm just back from seeing it for the 2nd time. Yes I know, it's been out 5 days...so what?

Honestly, this movie is AMAZING! It's more than a comic book movie, more than a crime drama, it's bigger than that.

And Heath as the Joker? People are not crazy when they compare the genius of his preformance to Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector. If he is not nominated for Best Supporting Actor, the Oscars need to be dismantled for stupidity.

Go see this movie. Even if you think you will hate it, go see it...GO! But don't go Thursday Night at 9:00 cause that's when our show is on....but we will be talking about THE DARK KNIGHT this week so if you were planning on seeing it then, go for it, then listen to the show and smile, and if you don't smile...Why so serious?

OK, I'm seeing it tonight. I got chicken and bailed on ya last night because I'm increasingly spoilerphobic. I have heard enough from other reviews to know what people are talking about without being totally spoiled though. I am seeing it with my sweetie, so if it gets a little dusty in the theater (translation: if I cry at all) I'm OK with that. I am also seeing it in a deluxe theater room where you 1) have to be 21 because they serve adult beverages, 2) can order dinner/snacks from your seat, and 3) have leather seats/couches to snuggle with your sweetie! I'll have a full review sometime tomorrow on my blog or here. Stay classy, Jersey and Pennsylvania (or wherever you happen to be!)

Thank you, Amanda, for pointing out that Maggie Gyllenhaal's performance was a weak point in the movie. Another weak point, I thought, was the story about the ferries. The tone didn't match the rest of the movie for me. The "ferry people" were uncharacteristically, even for a comic-inspired summer action movie, preachy and didn't talk or act like real people. And Christian Bale kind of got lost in the movie, overshadowed a lot by Heath Ledger's performance and Aaron Eckhart's (who should also get a nomination, but probably won't.) That's my mini-review.

I sadly, have not seen it yet, and most likely won't see it until next week. I'm too young to go to midnight screenings, I went on vacation on a plane across the Pacific Ocean to... Japan, I don't speak Japanese, we didn't get back until Monday afternoon (alas missing Comic-Con), my dad's sleep and work schedule don't accommodate time for a 2 1/2 hour movie, and I'm going up to Bakersfield this weekend. *whew!*

The only thing I know about the movie that I can't extrapolate from the trailer is that Harvey Dent becomes Two-Face. And the head's in the box.

Oh yeah, when is the planned contest end date. I'm sure everyone else is already finished, but this is my first video of this sorts, and because of that, I've had to build up a clip archive by doing yet another rewatch. I'm on episode 4.01 for those of you keeping track at home.

Scratch that last comment; just checked the talkshoe page - I'm assuming the show will be concerning the panel and Octagon Recruiting booth? I'm definitely excited for episode 71 though. And hopefully episode 72 will live up to its name.

When will the episode dedicated to the marvelous music of Michael Giacchino be scheduled?

JOSH - I hope you read this! I took on a closing shift at work, because I only had eight hours this week. We close AT nine, but I'll probably get off around 9:30. If you want to wait, you can - I won't have internet access tonight anyway, unless I go somewhere that has WIFI and podcast in public...hm....x.x

I'll call in as soon as they let me out - sorry!!! x.x

Awesome Matthew, we definetly hope to hear from you.

I disagree Patty, I very much liked how the ferries plot was shown. One thing about it that I discussed with my friends was that we sort of agreed that the detonator actually destroyed your own boat, which would be far more fun for the Joker. Not only prove your point, but kill those that thought they were buying life by killing. We then were even more excited when we thought about the fact that we'll never know. Did they blow up the other boat? Thier own? Something else? I thought it was very good tension, with a good resolution.

I do agree totally about Bale though, not really his fault. Eckhart and Ledger were so brilliant, and everyone loves a villian.

Thanks for the review!

Matthew apparently is Amanda.

See, I knew she has multiple personalities.

Jack Shephard clearly uses Dharma Theatrical Glue for his fake beard.

But I ALREADY had multiple personalities...now its just getting hard to keep track x.x

You should wear a fake beard for easier distinguishment between personalities.

Yeah, Josh, the contest post is being waited on, and you have, oh, about 6.5 more hours EST to post it before all hell breaks loose. I'll treat you to my review of The Dark Knight (as experienced in IMAX) when the contest post goes up. Not trying to act like a jerk, just desperate for my contest info fix.

I'm on "The Economist" for the people that give a crap.

I'm sorry Josh, but, um, let the hate-mail begin!

JK!

Hopefully you considered my super-secret email though.

So... Josh. Not trying to nag you, know your internet's been on and off lately, but... well, I guess you catch my drift. I'm on 4.10, "Something Nice Back Home." It's taking longer because I have to use "other methods" to get the episodes.

Also, if nobody makes the soundboard for you (I would if I could, but I don't feel like forking over a large amount of money to a flash editor), I found this on the internet: http://www.soundboard.com/sb/John_Lost_audio_clips.aspx

Amanda said...

Thats why we love you, Patrick. The BEST part of that soundboard is that its under "John Gimpy McCrutch from Lost" XD/._./;.;

Hey, if you guys are interested, I made my version of the dark knight teaser trailer and put it on youtube. Here's the link:

Well, as I said, the soundboard wasn't mine, and it includes sounds from other characters. Once I get done with my video, I'll learn how to make a soundboard for a future episode (at least, that's my plan). I guess I'm due to give my Dark Knight review, so I'll write that shortly.

Okay: my review of "The Dark Knight." I agree with pretty much everything you discussed onthe show, and while I agree that Maggie Gyllenhaal's performance was a weak part of the movie, it was certainly better than Katie Holmes' in "Batman Begins." Looks-wise, I'm sorry Maggie Gyllenhaal, but I have to go with Amanda's comment. I loved the ferry plot, and had the same exact thoughts as you Josh, I thought it would blow up their own boat. My two favorite scenes: the intro to the Joker (partly due to it being shown in IMAX), and of course, the magic trick. "Ta-dah!" The intro scene was brilliant because of all the twists and turns, the dude from "Prison Break" (William Fitchner I think is his name), and the Joker's master-planning (esp. at the end by merging with the school-buses). I knew the guy we focused on was the Joker though, his posture was exactly the same as in the trailer, just shot from the back vs. the front. Disappointed Two-Face is dead (or is he?) and the Joker's not (although if he fell of the building, that would have ruined the movie for me (think the original "Batman")). The trailer totally threw me off with the sequence of things and how they really played out.

16/5

Oh yeah, and my dad thought it was good (as in NOT GREAT!!!). He liked "Batman Begins" better, I think because it was more about Batman and he enjoyed the process of Bruce Wayne becoming Batman.
