Talkshoe pisses me off.

OK, if you woke up Friday morning hoping for a new episode of The Lost Flashbacks, and found there wasn't one...BLAME TALKSHOE!!!

We tried for a while to get the episode up and running, and no luck.

But don't fear, we will record tonight at 9:00 PM ET. Amanda will be in her car!!

Even if you don't care about Lost, who wouldn't want to tune in to see if she gets pulled over for driving while on a cell phone??

And to all those who stuck around in the chat room...WE LOVE YOU!

Ouch! Yeah, I tried to come in but I couldn't even get the chat window to open. Never knew you could call without going into the chat room, that's cool. It'll be tricky but I'll try to be there tonight.

Love ya'll back!

I have Question for The Lostflashbacks listners? Are there any Stephen King fans in the bunch of us? I've been thinking of all the king books i've read and the paralles. Since I listened to the 13 hr cast of the lowdown good stuff! Although it sparked alot more questions in my brain, not so good! I've Read all Of Mr.Kings books, (although i havent saved one for my deathbed ..Maybe he hasnt written it?) I'm finding alot more comparisons with the dark tower ect then before i paid attention. I always thought lost a little "kingish" with the mass charecters and crazy length of discription on people .Its the king way IE the stand & the dark tower both tell you so much about the charecter that you feel you know them.

Don't know? Thanks You Two for the great cast and the even better titles Trisha Tanaka is in a strageland Awsome soooo funny.

ABC has released an 8 minute recap of the entire series so far, narrated by a woman with a pretty good (dry) sense of humor. Very fun to check out:

Oh yes, I'm a big Stephen King fan. My favorite is The Stand but it's been a while since I read it. I started the Dark Tower series, but never finished it. I need to go back to it. And yes, I've noticed parallels too.

Sorry about the issue, we had a hiccup that caused some of the shows to not be able to start. As soon as we saw the problem we started fixing things and had things back up and running by 11:00. We are releasing a new version in the beginning of Jan. that should eliminate this issue. We are also adding a web based client to help people that are having issues with the downloadable client.

Again Sorry, we really try to make sure the service is up 24/7 but every once and a while we hit an issue that we did not anticipate.

Changing the subject... so, I'm catching up on listening to the podcasts as I re-re-watch the series, and I'm up to "The 23rd Psalm", and your conversation about the Nigerian plane got me thinking that Josh and Amanda might want to know about one of the most plausible "LOST" theories that explains, well, a lot...

Vile Vortices
http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Vile_Vortices_%28theory%29

A theory that pre-dates LOST, the basic gist is that there are mysterious wormhole-type places all over the globe that can cause planes, ships, etc to be transported to either another "vortex", or to some unknown location (ie, THE ISLAND).

The great thing about the Vile Vortices theory is that it could explain so much... the Nigerian plane, the Black Rock, why the Others leave for the Island from Florida (which is near the Bermuda Triangle), etc. I'd bet money this will end up being one of the big mystery explanations someday.

yeah that Talkshoe statement was pretty cool. Thank you Mr. Brauser for you quick responce. The service worked perfectly on Friday night, and as someone who uses a lot of tech I am familiar with bugs.

I also am eager to see the new version in January.

Talkshoe may piss me off at times, but in actuality it is the only reason we can even broadcast our show. So for that, Thank You.

oh yeah, and that Lost recap, is hysterical.

Sawyer gets sick...Kate is worried...Jack gets jealous...Kate sees a horse from her past...she freaks out...Jack consoles her, they kiss...Kate freaks out again...Jack is confused. LOL

i think the biggest thing that makes lost like stephen king is the flashbacks. in all of stephen kings books there are flashbacks. that is the way he write his stories.

I don't think it's just "flashbacks", but what the flashbacks provide for LOST, which is character development. That's what makes LOST great storytelling. Most shows that have strange elements, or sci-fi, or fantasy or whatever, concentrate on *that*, and the characters themselves are relatively thin. Even one of the *great* sci-fi series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, didn't flesh out characters 1/5 as much as LOST has. Likewise, that is what makes Stephen King the great genre writer that he is. Take any one of his novels, and the story is not really about whatever makes the story "horror", but it is about the character(s). By the time you finish a Stephen King novel, you feel like you really know the character WELL. You know what TV shows they like, what they have for breakfast, what mistakes they've made in life that they regret, etc. His stories almost *never* prominently feature a "monster", and even when they do, it's more about how that outside threat is a manifestation of the character's own psyche or fears.

"LOST" is also an amalgam of elements from some of King's best novels, whether it be "The Stand" (the most obvious one), "The Shining", "Carrie" and "Firestarter"... if it had never been a TV show, but had been a Stephen King novel, it would have perfectly fit. But not in a "copycat" way, it stands alone as a unique story that just happens to feel like Stephen King.

I think there's a great feel for King in Lost but deffinetly not in a copycat way in the season three dvd extras they all seem to be big king fans. I had been listening to the dark tower books at work when i was doing my rewatch of lost {istarted the next day after season three ended thats when i knew i had a lost problem and seeked help in podcast form when i wathed them all and thought i should probly wait a bit before i watched them thrice} back to the subject when i was watching and listening at the same time i was making all sorts of parrelles and conections between the two but have since forgoten them my memorie sucks(along with my spelling) i know they were way cool. And that beach seen were they are walking to** the tower** in the last episode and the side the ocean was on changes i think it was on purpose alla a shout out to the long walk on the beach in story where stuff like that happens.. Thanks all for the posts to my question!
