The Magic Number Episode

Hey kids - its Amanda this time...remember me? You probably won't after this episode, because I don't talk much...yay Josh! No, our episode is not a series of suggestions like "don't be ashamed to ask for directions," or "remember to put the seat down." This week, we discuss 3.03 Further Instructions, and 3.04 Every Man For Himself. This means that you get to listen to us rant about bad flashbacks, bad flashback characters (on my part...), polar bears, Pickett, and much much more. As always, you can leave any comments in the comments for this post, or you can email us at lostflashbacks@gmail.com

Join us next week as we finish out the mini season with 3.05 The Cost of Living, and 3.06 I Do (or don't...)

It's cool seeing Sawyer get conned.

About Clementine, in "Left Behind" Cassidy tells Kate that she's pregnant and basically tells the audience it's Sawyer's without naming him. So I don't see how Cassidy was conning Sawyer.

...I forgot about that, because I blocked out that flashback! Maybe if Josh and I stopped complaining we would pick up on these things, eh? Thanks!

Also, I just remember whenever I watched that the first time (before Left Behind had aired), that was the great debate...so I was thrown back into that mindset...weird, I know!

And he hits him in the FACE!!!! :D

Thursday's coming fast this week! Maybe I can actually show up on time for a change! My God, the exclamation marks!

I totally fell for Ben's con as well, I thought Sawyer's heart was a bust if he saw too much of Kate's.

I also really love Ben's "lonely man" speech. I had completely forgotten about that until you played it back. He totally sounds like a different person, almost like a Southerner using the word "ain't" like he does.

I think Desmond with the three flight attendants in the vision could represent that he has choices to make. i.e. he has his pick of many possible futures, but he has to choose just one.

Great episode guys!

Amanda- Ian is in about 10 episodes of Smallville, in case you were wondering! And he was amazing!

TEN!? This I did not know. Hmm...I wonder if Netflix has Smallville...

Lauren said...

Yea...maybe it was more like 7 lol

but he had a whole episode arc. When lost first started (back when i didn't watch) i was like "hey, ian somerhalder! the dude from smallville! he had an awesome character!

Same here Lauren... he was in six season 3 episodes. It wasn't a bad arc but I wish they kept him on for longer.

Fantastic thought on Jacob being the one that THEY have, and Locke needs to save him. That's exactally what came to my mind... knowing all we do now.

BTW: If Locke's name is really Jonathan, does that mean we have to spell his name "Jon" now? He's really a "John."

I am also intrigued, simply intrigued, by the idea that the whole hippy commune thing was a "flash forward"....as you both said, it doesn't fit, hard to put in the time-line... and, perhaps... memories of his great life on the ISLAND, truly a hunter. (I can't imagine he's just thinking about hunting ducks with his dad)

the whole flashforward thing is totally plausible in my mind, even considering his hair. we don't know in what respects these people got off the island, so something like hair shouldn't detour us from believing it to be the future.

if it was the future, i think the storyline at the commune is so much more relevant. Here Locke is, with a group of people he cares about and he let's them down again, the way he let down he Losties by letting some of them get off the island.

i really hope its a flashforward and not just a useless flashback

Me too :)

Hmm, I was thinking about the whole Locke having hair in a flash-forward thing, but have you checked out Juliet in the "Not In Portland" flashback? She totally looks 10 years older in the flashback. Even her hands seem frail as she is about to sign the forms for her bus-ridden husband at the end. Somethin' ain't stirring the Kool-Aid, man.
